A maritime accounting authority is the connecting link in the international accounting systems that collects charges from ship radio station licensees for maritime terrestrial and satellite telecommunication services and that pays the charges to service providers and network operators for the telecommunication services used by the ship. All ships with radio communication equipment shall in principle be connected to an accounting authority.
